Audit Building and Fire Official Pre-Credential Training Programs for Continuing Education Credit
For building code enforcement officials and fire officials who want to be retrained in a particular area, there are limited seats available in OEDM’s Pre-Licensure Training Program and Pre-Certification Training Program.

Building Code Enforcement Officials and Fire Officials are required to earn continuing education credits to maintain their license or certification. The number of credits needed is based on the credential. All training cycles are three-years in length.

Earn Continuing Education Credits from Outside Training Providers as a Building or Fire Official
If you take a live or online class from a provider other than the Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM), it may count toward your three-year licensure and certification requirements.

The Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) performs all credentialing responsibilities - including training, testing and records maintenance - for the Office of the State Building Inspector (OSBI) and the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM).

The Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) presents a schedule of career development classes each semester that is intended to further the professional education of individuals who work with the Connecticut building and fire codes.

Starting in 2017, The Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) will provide online code training for building and fire officials, and design and trades professionals. For individuals credentialed through OEDM, completion of our online training will count toward your continuing education credit hours.
