Overview

The Department of Administrative Services Surplus Property Program is the legally authorized agent in the State for the disposition of all usable property deemed surplus to a State agency's operating needs.

For security and environmental reasons, computers, laptops, and hard drives cannot be disposed of through public auction, however, they are available for reallocation to State agencies, municipalities, and registered non-profits. 

Because of this, there is a specific process as well as a specific form used on Public Surplus enabling members of state agencies to surplus, through internal reallocation, former state computers and laptops for use in other state agencies, municipalities, and non-profits.  This form is also used to scrap the same broken items that must be disposed of using an approved electronics recycling vendor.
