Overview

The 2022 legislative session led to House Bill 5428 becoming Special Act 22-14 - An Act Concerning Records Relating to the Administration of the State Building Code and the Promotion of Careers in Related Fields.

The act requires the commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to convene working groups to study and, by January 1, 2023, report on the following:

Section 1: a standardized system for the scanning or other digitization of records relating to the State Building Code and storage of such records on a searchable web-based public database.

Section 2: expanding coursework and programs in community colleges to provide training to students pursuing careers as building officials.
