Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) Online Training

How To

OEDM-sponsored Online Courses

OEDM has partnered with outside vendors to preapprove online trainings, cover all training fees and eliminate the outside credit application process.  Each vendor has different procedures, which are identified below:

Online training offered by Simpson Strong-Tie
OEDM has approved 20 Simpson Strong-Tie online trainings, for a total of 26 credit hours.  To get credit you will need to create a Simpson Profile on their site -  including your CT Building Official ID - score 80% on the assessment (to get your Simpson Strong-Tie certificate), and submit your certificate to our office.  Official course title, course number and credit hours will be printed on the certificate, so an Application for Outside Credit Approval form will not be required.

Registration information and courses can be found at Simpson Strong-Tie.

Online training offered by the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) via CFI Trainer

OEDM has approved all but two CFI Trainer online classes.  Charting Your Career Path in Fire Investigators and Communicating the Value of Membership in IAAI are not eligible for OEDM continuing education credits. Individual certificates for approved classes will be processed; multi-program certificates will only be considered if submitted with a transcript.  Registration information and courses can be found at CFI Trainer.  Once you complete your course and get your CFI Certificate of Completion, submit your certificate with a completed Outside Credit Application to OEDM at oedm@ct.gov .

Online training offered by The American Wood Council
OEDM has approved this list of online trainings by The American Wood Council.  Registration information and courses can be found at https://awc.org/education/ecourses . Once you complete training and receive your American Wood Council proof of completion, submit your proof of completion with an Outside Credit Application to OEDM at oedm@ct.gov .
