Answer: No. It is required under Connecticut General Statutes (CGS), Chapter 541, and is administered by the Department of Administrative Services.

Do exams given by municipalities or the International Code Council (ICC) for building official credentials count toward the state building official exam?
Answer: No. Building code enforcement licensure examinations are administered only through the Office of Education and Data Management, Department of Administrative Services.

I am in the process of interviewing candidates for a building official position. Can I get verification of the date the person earned his/her license, and the number of continuing education credits s/he has earned?
Answer: Yes and no. We can provide you with the date the candidate earned licensure and if s/he is still licensed, but not the number of continuing education credits earned.
