Gov. Malloy: Nine Municipalities to Share $20M Federal Grant for Transportation Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that nine Connecticut cities and towns will share a $20 million federal grant for transportation projects designed to improve the flow of traffic, improve air quality, and reduce energy use.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Sharon Palmer to Lead Connecticut's Labor Department
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, today appointed Sharon Palmer to serve as Commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Labor. Ms. Palmer is currently the President of AFT Connecticut, an AFL-CIO union representing 28,000 teachers and other workers, including heath care professionals, state employees, higher education and school related personnel.

Leonardi, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) Deputy Commissioner William Shea, and state and local officials, met with residents of the Cosey Beach neighborhood in East Haven to assess clean-up and recovery efforts one year after Tropical Storm Irene devastated the area.

Sunday: Gov. Malloy & Congressman Murphy Hold News Conference to Call for Drought Relief for Farmers
On Sunday at 11:00 a.m., Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Congressman Chris Murphy and Department of Agriculture Commissioner Steven Reviczky will hold a news conference at Tulmeadow Farm in West Simsbury to urge Congress to act on drought relief legislation. Connecticut farmers are being negatively impacted by the nationwide drought that is causing a shortage of feed for livestock, which could raise the price of groceries in the near future.

Gov. Malloy: Advance Auto Parts Building Distribution Center in Enfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state will provide a $5 million loan to support Advance Auto Parts and its plan to establish a distribution facility in Enfield at the former Lego building, a project that will create between 100 and 200 jobs. The State Bond Commission is expected to approve the funding at its next meeting.

Malloy and Democratic state legislators from the East Haven area announced today that the State Bond Commission is expected to approve a $1 million state grant for the non-profit Shore Line Trolley Museum on River Street in East Haven to construct new trolley storage buildings above the flood plain.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide a $1.5 million low interest loan to Lex Products Corporation in Shelton to support a multi-million dollar expansion project which will retain 182 positions and create up to ten new jobs.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange has been awarded a $107 million Federal Level-Two Establishment Grant from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
