MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY MAKES KEY ADMINISTRATION APPOINTMENT; SPEAKS AT HOUSING CONVENTION; MEETS WITH EAST HAVEN RESIDENTS ON ANNIVERSARY OF TROPICAL STORM IRENE

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a news conference in Hartford to announce a cabinet-level appointment in his administration.

In the afternoon, he will give a featured speech at the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials 14th annual convention in Uncasville, where he will speak about his administration's efforts to advance the development of affordable housing as a key component of driving economic growth.

Later, Governor Malloy, Department of Insurance Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi, Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection Deputy Commissioner Bill Shea, and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Dan Esty will meet with East Haven town officials and members of the town's legislative delegation for a walking tour of the Cosey Beach neighborhood to view redevelopment efforts on the one year anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene. Exactly one year ago in the immediate aftermath of the storm, Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman toured the neighborhood to view the damage and speak with residents. Monday's walking tour will be followed by a short discussion on recovery efforts with town officials in the nearby Community Center.
