Gov. Malloy: Whale Inks Multi-Year Deal at XL Center
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Michael Freimuth, Executive Director of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), today announced that a multi-year deal has been reached between Global Spectrum and Madison Square Garden (MSG) for the American Hockey League's (AHL) Whale to play at the XL Center in Hartford.

Tuesday: Gov. Malloy Speaks at Event Recognizing School Achievement- Participates in Child Nutrition Forum, Meets with Stamford Mayor and Police Chief on Gun Violence, Attends Black History Month Cele
On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give opening remarks at a breakfast event in Cromwell hosted by the state Department of Education recognizing about 97 schools from throughout Connecticut as “Schools of Distinction” for progress in improving student achievement.

Gov. Malloy Appointed to Council of Governors, Attends National Governors Association Winter Meeting
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has been appointed by President Barack Obama to serve a two-year term on the Council of Governors, a group of 10 state governors established in 2010 to address matters of national security, homeland defense, synchronization and integration of state and federal military activities in the United States and matters of mutual interest pertaining to the National Guard.

Gov. Malloy: Storm Sandy Aid Tops $50 Million
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that more than $50 million in federal assistance to date has been approved to help individuals and businesses with disaster expenses since President Obama approved his Disaster Declaration request as a result of Storm Sandy.

Gov. Malloy: Sandy Hook Advisory Commission to Hear from Trauma Services and School Crisis Experts Friday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is next scheduled to meet on Friday, February 22, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will hear testimony from experts in the field of student support and school crisis response, including doctors with experience in psychology and trauma services.

Gov. Malloy to Town Leaders: Middleclass Tax Relief Must be a Priority
In a letter to town leaders, Governor Malloy today reaffirmed his commitment to providing middleclass tax relief to Connecticut’s working families. In addition to investing in job creation and education, the Governor’s proposal would eliminate the car tax for vehicles valued below $28,000 and reinstate the sales tax exemption on clothing under $50.
