TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS AT EVENT RECOGNIZING SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT; PARTICIPATES IN CHILD NUTRITION FORUM; MEETS WITH STAMFORD MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF ON GUN VIOLENCE; ATTENDS BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION; KEYNOTES YOUTH EMPLOYMENT FORUM

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give opening remarks at a breakfast event in Cromwell hosted by the state Department of Education recognizing about 97 schools from throughout Connecticut as "Schools of Distinction" for progress in improving student achievement.

Later, Governor Malloy will give remarks at an event in Hartford on childhood nutrition co-sponsored by the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, End Hunger CT, and the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will meet with Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia, Stamford Police Chief Jonathan Fontneau and other state and local officials to discuss his gun violence prevention proposal. Following the meeting, the Governor will hold a media availability.

Following that, Governor Malloy will give closing remarks at the University of Connecticut Stamford Campus and UConn Co-op's 9th Annual Black History Month celebration.

Later, Governor Malloy will give the keynote address at the Connecticut Workforce Development Council's "Youth Employment Day" event.
