GOV. MALLOY: SANDY HOOK ADVISORY COMMISSION TO HEAR FROM TRAUMA SERVICES AND SCHOOL CRISIS EXPERTS FRIDAY
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the
Sandy Hook Advisory Commission
is next scheduled to meet on Friday, February 22, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will hear testimony from experts in the field of student support and school crisis response, including doctors with experience in psychology and trauma services.
The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is a 16-member panel of experts created by Governor Malloy and chaired by Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, charged with reviewing current policy and making specific recommendations in the areas of public safety, with particular attention paid to school safety, mental health, and gun violence prevention.
Experts anticipated to testify at Friday's meeting include:

Patricia Rehmer : Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services

Joette Katz : Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families

Stefan Pryor : Commissioner of the Department of Education

Jewel Mullen : Commissioner of the Department of Public Health

Dr. Marleen Wong : Assistant Dean and Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California School of Social Work

Dr. Thomas Demaria : Director of the Psychological Services Center and Trauma Response Team of the Doctoral Psychology Program at Long Island University

John Barry : Superintendent of the Aurora, Colorado public school system

Francis Pombar : Recovery Coordinator for the Aurora, Colorado public school system
