Gov. Malloy and Dept. of Public Health Unveil Springtime Awareness Campaign Aimed at Travelers Heading to Areas Affected by Zika Virus
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Commissioner Dr. Raul Pino today announced the launch of a new springtime public awareness campaign aimed at warning travelers heading to the Caribbean and other areas where the Zika virus is being actively transmitted about the risk of contracting the virus. Television and radio ads in both English and Spanish that target college students on spring break and other travelers began airing statewide and online on February 27 and will run through the end of March.

Gov. Malloy Activates State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol from Friday through Monday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next couple of days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017, and remaining in effect through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13.

Malloy is urging the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to table consideration of any new alignment of tracks on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) through Connecticut and instead focus its investments – which he says are long overdue – on maintaining the corridor in a “state of good repair.”

Gov. Malloy Introduces Legislation to Prevent the State’s Adult Prisons from Becoming Crime Schools for the Young
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has submitted a legislative proposal to the Connecticut General Assembly with the goal of further reducing the state’s decreasing crime rate by making a systemic distinction – when appropriate – in how young adults within the justice system are treated in order to provide them with the support services they need to succeed in life instead of being mixed into the adult offender population, which too often can be the first step on a path toward a life of crime.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are highlighting the release of a report today by U.S. News & World Report, which ranked Connecticut among the top states in the country after an analysis was conducted combining more than 10,000 data points across a range of observable outcomes in several important categories, including education, health care, government, infrastructure, economy, opportunity, and crime and corrections.

Gov. Malloy, Connecticut Airport Authority Announce Launch of Nonstop Service Between Bradley International Airport and San Francisco with United Airlines
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) and United Airlines today announced the debut of new, seasonal nonstop United Airlines service between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Beginning June 8, 2017 and running through September 5, the flight offers business commuters and tourists another option when traveling to the Greater Hartford area.

Gov. Malloy and Conn. Airport Authority Announce Launch of Norwegian Air International Operations at Bradley International Airport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, officials from the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA), and representatives from Norwegian Air today announced that Norwegian Air International, a low-cost carrier and Norwegian Air’s Irish subsidiary, will soon commence operations at Bradley International Airport. Beginning in June, 17, 2017, the airline will offer direct, nonstop service from Bradley International Airport to Edinburgh, Scotland, at its trademark low cost fares.
