The Bureau of Energy and Technology Policy (BETP) manages local, state and regional energy policy issues for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) with the goal of establishing a clean, economical and reliable energy future for all residents.
At BETP, staff members develop plans and policies to implement Connecticut’s Comprehensive Energy Strategy, oversee the invention and enforcement of energy efficiency programs with the Energy Efficiency Board, administer the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program, pursue efforts to advance renewable energy policies and projects, and apply the state's Climate Change Action Plan as needed.
Additionally, BETP often engages with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), an independent regulatory body that oversees the state’s electric and gas utilities, as well as telecommunications companies to achieve joint goals.
