Certificate of Need Taskforce
The Governor's Certificate of Need Taskforce is responsible for comprehensively reviewing Connecticut’s laws regulating the ability of hospitals, nursing homes, residential care homes, certain physician groups, and other health care entities to establish new facilities or provide new services, change ownership, purchase or acquire equipment, make capital improvements, and terminate services. The review is intended to ensure that consumers in Connecticut continue to receive equitable and affordable access to high quality health care that encourages transparency and competition, contributes to economic development, and promotes community benefits.

A final report containing recommendations for improving the Certificate of Need process must be submitted by the taskforce to Governor Malloy by no later than January 15, 2017. At this time, the CON Taskforce is gathering public input on the draft recommendations. Members of the public are welcome to submit written comments to CONTaskForce@ct.gov. All comments must be submitted by no later than 5 p.m. on December 15, 2016 in order to be considered. There is no guarantee that all public comment will be adopted into the final recommendations; however, all public comments submitted before the deadline will be included in the appendix of the final report.
