Gov. Malloy Announces State’s Toolkit for Families Concerned about Immigration Enforcement is Now Available in Nine Languages
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state toolkit he released last month that provides user-friendly, step-by-step resources and forms for parents and guardians who have concerns about immigration enforcement and its potential impact on the custody of their children is now available to download in nine languages: Arabic, English, French, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Governor and Mrs. Malloy Announce Registration Now Open for Reimagining Justice Conference
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy today announced that registration to attend the upcoming Reimagining Justice conference is now open. The symposium will be held in Hartford on June 14 and 15, 2017 and will feature nationally renowned criminal justice experts, policy leaders, and justice-involved advocates discussing best practices in criminal justice systems at the local, state, and federal levels.

Gov. Malloy Announces $5.5 Million in Federal Grants for Connecticut’s Efforts to Combat the Opioid Crisis
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is receiving $5.5 million federal grant to expand the state’s efforts to combat the prescription opioid and heroin crisis. The funding is being awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and will be used by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to increase access to treatment, reduce unmet treatment need, and reduce opioid-related overdose deaths.

Gov. Malloy Announces $23 Million to Support the Development of Affordable Housing in Six Connecticut Communities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that nearly $23 million in state funding is being awarded to support the development of affordable housing in six communities across Connecticut as part of the latest round of funding under the state’s Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program. These awards will play a role in helping to create, rehabilitate, or preserve more than 200 units of affordable housing and greatly expanding access to mixed income and supportive housing units. These new units are essential in the state’s work to prevent and end homelessness.

Gov. Malloy and State Officials Urge EPA to Act Favorably on Petition to Control Pollution Caused by Upwind States
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and other Connecticut officials are urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to approve a petition filed by the State of Connecticut along with eight other neighboring Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to require nine upwind states located in the west and the south to reduce air pollution generated within their borders that is carried to states in the northeast by prevailing winds, causing public health issues for area residents and economic disincentives for the region’s businesses.
