Dept. of Economic & Community Development Release: Blue Sky Studios Continues to Grow
Blue Sky Studios today announced it will expand its headquarters in Greenwich and create 70 jobs, a move that will allow the Oscar Award winning digital animation company to grow even more in the future. The state, through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), is providing financial support for the project.

Tuesday: Gov. Malloy Meets with Litchfield Area Businesses, Keynotes CT Broadcasters Assoc. Convention, Participates in News Conference on Domestic Violence Awareness
On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with members of the Litchfield Area Business Association to discuss issues related to what the Governor hopes to accomplish in a bipartisan manner during the upcoming Jobs Special Session at the end of this month. Approximately 60-80 area business owners and managers are anticipated to attend the meeting.

On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join representatives of Hartford Communities that Care, Inc. and area faith leaders for a tour of North Hartford, where they will speak with residents and discuss issues affecting them. Hartford Communities that Care is a community action organization that promotes a non-violent, drug free environment through the coordination and collaboration of services, promotion of education, healthy lifestyles, and practices.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy has ordered U.S. and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff tomorrow in remembrance of the sacrifices of firefighters and other first responders and to honor the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

Gov. Malloy Announces First Payments of Elderly Renters Rebate Program Released
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the first checks under the Elderly Renters Rebate Program are being released Friday. The checks, totaling $21.7 million are being mailed to 42,332 elderly renters to help offset a portion of their rent and utility expenses. Other eligible persons will receive checks over the next several weeks.

Malloy Administration Approves $5 Million for Local "Transit-Oriented Development" Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the award of $5 million to 11 cities, towns and regional planning organizations around the state for the planning and facilitation of “transit-oriented development” (TOD) projects – work aimed at better linking communities and their transportation infrastructure, such as rail and bus stations.

Gov. Malloy: East Haven Disaster Loan Outreach Center to Remain Open until October 27
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Disaster Loan Outreach Center in East Haven, which had previously been scheduled to close tomorrow, will now remain open through October 27 to continue assisting residents in the area impacted by Tropical Storm Irene.
