Gov. Malloy Announces Flags will be Flown at Half-Staff Monday in Observation of 9/11 Anniversary
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, September 11, 2017, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags – including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise – should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

Gov. Malloy Previews New Compromise Budget Proposal
Governor Dannel P. Malloy this afternoon released an overview of guiding principles of a new, compromise biennial budget proposal that he will offer to the members of the Connecticut General Assembly tomorrow. He also previewed several areas where the administration’s new proposal makes significant adjustments and compromises to reflect both the priorities of various legislative caucuses, as well as affected constituencies, particularly in the area of town aid.

Gov. Malloy and Attorney General Jepsen: Connecticut Joins Multistate Lawsuit Challenging President Trump on DACA
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined with a coalition of 14 other states and the District of Columbia in suing President Donald Trump and his administration seeking to invalidate his memorandum that ends the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and to enjoin federal agencies from using information gathered through DACA in immigration enforcement efforts.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, UConn President Susan Herbst, and Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) President Mark Ojakian are strongly criticizing a decision announced today by President Trump that he will terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, putting the futures of over 800,000 young people across the country in jeopardy through no fault of their own. They are calling on Congress to take action as soon as possible to reverse this ill-conceived action.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Return to Full-Staff on Tuesday Evening
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that U.S. and state flags should return to full-staff at sunset on the evening of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Flags have been flying at half-staff in the state in honor of U.S. Navy Petty Officer Dustin Doyon of Suffield, who was among those who died on board the U.S.S. John S. McCain when it collided with a merchant vessel off the coast of Singapore.

Gov. Malloy and Emergency Management Officials Provide Storm Preparedness Tips as Height of Hurricane Season Approaches
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and state emergency management officials are reminding Connecticut residents that the tropics remain very active and people should take the needed steps to prepare well in advance of any storm threatening the state. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the principle threat period for Connecticut occurring between mid-August and mid-October.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are inviting members of the public to attend the State of Connecticut’s 16th annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Labor Department Recovers $8.9 Million in Owed Wages for Workers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) has recovered a record $8.9 million in unpaid wages for Connecticut workers during the fiscal year that ended June 30. This represents an increase of $1.8 million from the previous year.

Gov. Malloy Signs Opioid Legislation on Overdose Awareness Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today marked International Overdose Awareness Day by holding a ceremonial bill signing in Hartford, where he signed legislation that he introduced earlier this year and developed in cooperation with a number of lawmakers that is designed to further the state’s efforts combatting the opioid crisis. It builds upon a series of reforms that Governor Malloy signed on the topic since taking office in 2011.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Sign onto Coalition of Leaders to Stand with Dreamers Against Deportation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that they are joining a coalition of leaders from across the country – governors, mayors, city and state elected officials, law enforcement professionals, faith and civic leaders – onto a new “We Are With Dreamers” statement, which calls on President Trump to preserve the successful Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and for Congress to pass a standalone version of the bipartisan Dream Act. To date, over 1,860 leaders have signed onto the statement.

Gov. Malloy Advises Residents on How They Can Safely Assist With Hurricane Harvey Response and Recovery
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is advising Connecticut residents who are generously considering providing monetary donations to nonprofit organizations that are assisting with Hurricane Harvey response and recovery in the Texas area to take several steps of precaution in order to ensure that their charitable giving is being used in accordance with the intent in which it was given.

Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut Sending National Guard Airmen and Cargo Plane to Assist in Hurricane Harvey Response
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has deployed a C-130H cargo plane and eight Airmen from the 103rd Airlift Wing of the Connecticut National Guard to help with Hurricane Harvey response and recovery efforts in Texas. The unit, which departed from the Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby this afternoon, includes C-130H pilots, crewmembers, loadmasters, and maintainers.
