Gov. Malloy Appoints Dan DeSimone to Head Washington Office
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed Dan DeSimone to be the director of Connecticut’s state office in Washington D.C. DeSimone will work with Connecticut’s Congressional Delegation and coordinate Connecticut’s federal legislative and policy work on behalf of Governor Malloy.

Gov. Malloy Announces First Set of M-8 Cars Operating on New Haven Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Metro-North today announced that the first set of eight new M-8 rail cars were put into service today from Stamford, offering Metro-North customers the latest in rail technology and comfort. The train left Stamford at 10:30 a.m. and arrived at Grand Central Terminal in New York at 11:36 a.m.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Private First Class David R. Fahey, Jr., who was killed yesterday morning after finishing a patrol in Afghanistan.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has nominated eight residents to serve as members of the State Board of Education: Joseph J. Vrabely, Jr. of Glastonbury; Patricia Keavney-Maruca of Watertown; Terry H. Jones of Shelton; Ellen Camhi of Stamford; Charles A. Jaskiewicz, III of Norwich; Estela López of East Hartford; Ferdinand L. Risco, Jr. of New Haven; and Stephen P. Wright of Trumbull.

Gov. Malloy in Washington for Governors' Conferences, Will Attend Events-Meetings with President Obama Three Times
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy traveled to Washington D.C. early Friday morning for the annual National Governors Association (NGA) and Democratic Governors Association (DGA) meetings taking place Friday through Monday. These conferences allow sitting governors and first ladies the opportunity to talk with governors from all parties about best practices for creating new jobs, ideas to help stabilize the economy, and the shared challenges leading their respective states.

Gov. Malloy Nominates Judge Lubbie Harper, Jr. to the Connecticut Supreme Court
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his nomination of Judge Lubbie Harper, Jr. to be an associate justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. Judge Harper, when confirmed by the General Assembly, would take the place of Justice Joette Katz, who was selected as Governor Malloy’s Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families.

Governor Malloy: Businesses Interested in First Five Program Should Contact Office Directly
Last week, Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the creation of his ‘First Five’ initiative—a new program that will provide incentives to the first five businesses that each bring a minimum of 200 new full-time jobs to the state within the next 24 months. Today, Governor Malloy announced that companies interested in the program should call his office directly to learn more.
