On behalf of the dedicated forensic science professionals, I am proud to welcome you to the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services website. I hope you find this site informative and educational.

It is the on-going policy of the Division of Scientific Services to provide services that meet our specifications and comply with the ANAB AR3125, ISO/IEC 17025, the FBI DNA QAS and the ATF MROS requirements while meeting or exceeding the expectations of the criminal justice community.

The laboratory provides forensic support to local, state and federal agencies throughout Connecticut.  This division is divided into three analytical Sections. They are the Chemical Analysis Section (including Toxicology, Controlled Substances, and Arson), the Forensic Biology/DNA Section, and the Identification Section (including Latent Prints, Firearms, and Computer Crimes). The laboratory also has two non-analytical Sections.  They are the Quality Section and Laboratory Support Services (including Administration, Evidence Receiving, and Case Management).

Our duty is to search for the truth through science by providing the highest quality and most accurate results. We are focused on advancing forensic science by validating new technologies to improve laboratory operations. Our National Integrated Ballistics Information Network, Rapid DNA, GrayKey, and ClearCase Kiosks are examples of our laboratory being on the forefront of innovation.  These services provide critical and timely investigative leads for our stakeholders.

If you are interested in joining our excellent team of forensic professionals, please visit https://jobs.ct.gov for employment options and postings.

We are committed to giving back to the community through our Outreach program. Connecticut students enrolled in a university or college are encouraged to apply for an internship with our laboratory. Click here for the DSS Internship Application and Instruction on how to apply.

Thank you again for taking the time to visit our webpage.
