
Scientific Services Administrative Manager
The Connecticut Division of Scientific Services (DSS) is proud to provide college students with an opportunity to intern at our Forensic Laboratory. We offer interns the opportunity to work in one or more of the following DSS Units.
- Forensic Biology/DNA Section
- Chemical Analysis Section
- Toxicology
- Controlled Substances
- Fire Debris
- Guns Shot Residue
- Breath Alcohol
- Identification Section
- Firearms
- Fingerprints
- Impressions
- Computer Crimes
- Lottery
- Administrative Support Section
- Evidence Receiving
- Case Management
- Administration
- Quality Assurance
Applicants are encouraged to provide their desired Section/Unit they would like to intern with. However, there is no guarantee that if you are selected, it will be with the Section/Unit requested.
Applicants can choose between three different semesters each calendar year.
Spring School Semester – February to May
Application Deadline: November 1st of the previous year
Summer School Semester – June to August
Application Deadline: March 15th of the same year
Fall / Winter School Semester – September to December
Application Deadline: July 1st of the same year
- If you do not receive your 1st, 2nd or 3rd option for an internship in your first requested semester, you can request to move your application to the next semester by sending an email to DSS.
There are no set number of interns selected each session. The number of interns selected depends on the needs of the different Sections/Units of the DSS and will vary each session.
Submission of an application does not guarantee an internship. There is no guarantee that all applicants will receive an internship.
Applications that are incomplete or submitted without the required supporting documentation will not be considered.
All interns will be required to pass a background check prior to the start of their internship.
All interns will be required to submit an elimination Buccal standard as part of their orientation.
