Thomas Vitagliano – Age 33

Army Staff Sergeant Thomas Vitagliano, August 31, 1971 – January 17, 2005, was killed by a suicide bomber in Ramadi. Vitagliano, 33, of West Haven, went to Notre Dame High School in West Haven until his sophomore year, and then transferred to Virginia's Hargrave Military Academy. He went on to join the Marines before joining the Army as a member of the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry. Vitagliano died with another soldier from his unit conducting security and stability operations. Vitagliano is survived by his mother, Inger Lise Severine, his father, Gaetano Thomas Vitagliano and his fiance, Nerina Giolli.
