Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Stamford resident Chief Petty Officer Brian Bill, who was killed in action in Afghanistan over the weekend.

Thursday: Gov. Malloy Speaks at College Prep Graduation Ceremony
On Thursday evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give remarks at the graduation ceremony for Let’s Get Ready Stamford, a 9-week SAT preparation and college counseling non-profit program staffed by volunteers. The program seeks to expand access to college for high school students of all socioeconomic backgrounds by providing free SAT prep courses and mobilizing them to achieve success in college admissions. Across the nation, the program has guided more than 10,000 under-served students through the college process, increasing SAT scores on average by 100 points.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Holds Ceremonial Signing for Conn. Airport Authority Bill, Continues Jobs Tour
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will continue his jobs tour with a visit to Bradley International Airport where he will be joined by legislators, state officials and business leaders for a ceremonial bill signing of legislation establishing the Connecticut Airport Authority (Public Act 11-84). The Authority will be assigned with developing, improving, and operating Bradley International Airport and the state’s five other general aviation airports. It will serve as an economic driver in Connecticut, making the state’s airports more attractive to new routes, new commerce, and new companies who may be considering making Connecticut their home.

Thursday: Gov. Malloy on Jobs Tour Visits Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods to Discuss Tourism
On Thursday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will continue his Jobs Tour with a visit to Mohegan Sun, followed by a visit with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino. At each of the locations, Governor Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Deputy Commissioner Christopher “Kip” Bergstrom will meet and tour the facilities with the executives and staff to discuss the role of casino resort destinations in the tourism industry and the state’s economic development strategy. The tourism industry is one of the top five producers of jobs in the State of Connecticut.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Attends Hartford Distributors Memorial, Continues on Jobs Tour in Danbury
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a ceremony dedicating a memorial garden on the grounds of Hartford Distributors, Inc. in honor of the eight men whose lives were lost on the site on August 3, 2010. The garden includes eight stainless steel sculptures in remembrance of each of the men.

Gov. Malloy: Lower Cost for Most Enrollees in Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today welcomed federal approval of a flat $381 monthly premium in the Connecticut Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, a move expected to boost enrollment in the year-old program by slashing premium costs by as much as 57% for older beneficiaries.

Monday: Gov. Malloy on Jobs Tour Visits New England Assistive Technology Center at Oak Hill
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Monday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the staff of the New England Assistive Technology Center at Oak Hill in Hartford. Oak Hill is a private non-profit corporation that is the largest private provider of services to people with disabilities in Connecticut. They have over 1,400 employees throughout the state and provide community based residential care, day programs, assistive technology, supported work, training to work with people with disabilities, an equipment restoration center, and a fully licensed school and pre-school for children with disabilities.
