The Imprints Unit examines footwear and tire tracks for unique traits. These traits may be used to compare with known examples submitted for analysis. Known examples are tread or tire track patterns from known objects. They are replicated for analysis.
The Imprints Unit also uses the Solemate shoeprint database. The database is searched for footwear manufacturers based on shoe tread patterns.

The Identification Section also examines scratch-off lottery tickets prior to release into the Lottery System. They review the security of these scratch-off games and check the quality of the "scratch coating." The coating must prevent tampering or detecting numbers until the ticket is purchased.
