DEEP Deputy Commissioner Whalen Joins Students from Waterbury’s Regan Elementary School For Stocking Trout in Celebration of Opening Day
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Deputy Commissioner Susan Whalen, today joined students from Regan Elementary School, Waterbury, to stock trout at Fulton Park, Upper Pond, in preparation for Opening Day of trout fishing season on Saturday, April 8.

Southern End of the Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail Will Be Closed through June 2017
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that the southern end of the popular Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail will be closed through June 2017 to protect a pair of nesting bald eagles.

Connecticut Joins Multistate Settlement Resolving Environmental Claims against Volkswagen for Emissions Fraud
Connecticut will receive $14,846,465 through a multistate settlement with auto-maker Volkswagen that resolves state claims that the company violated environmental laws when it equipped certain diesel vehicles with illegal and undisclosed emissions defeat devices designed to circumvent emissions standards, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Robert Klee released the following statements in response to an executive order President Trump signed today rolling back previous action made by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the Clean Power Plan, including a rule cutting power-plant carbon emissions.

DEEP Announces 1.267 Million Gallons of Recreational Vessel Boat Sewage Removed in 2016 and $1 Million in Grants Awarded for Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities for the 2017 Boating Season
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that during the 2016 boating season, pumpout facilities and pumpout vessel programs removed a record level of more 1.267 million gallons of recreational marine sewage from vessels in Long Island Sound and Candlewood Lake.
