Homeland Security

Under Connecticut law, the authority for homeland security functions in Connecticut is assigned to the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), a division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP).

Statewide homeland security planning and the coordination of pass-through funding to regional entities falls under the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The Homeland Security Working Group assists DEMHS in evaluating current capabilities and developing/revising the goals, objectives and implementation steps of the strategy to meet any gaps in capabilities. The federally required Statewide Homeland Security Strategy is developed in collaboration with this working group. The operational and planning functions work together to ensure a coordinated response to a homeland security threat or situation.
