Filing for Unemployment

Once you file for unemployment, there are some important things to remember:

1. It’s important you file a claim each week you are unemployed. You can file a weekly claim from Sunday-Friday for the previous week; however, if you miss filing a claim, you will not be able to file the following week until you submit a missed filing form online.

2. Begin filing your weekly claim the Sunday after you’ve received email confirmation that your claim was processed. All claims must be submitted online.

3. Make sure you set up a payment method to receive your benefits – either direct deposit or debit card. You'll need to set up a CT Department of Labor account to select a payment method.
