Main Street Commercial Revitalization Plan

“This STEAP grant project was a wonderful resource for Hebron and for our local businesses.  We still receive numerous positive comments from our citizens and business owners about this project.  We appreciate the State of Connecticut and Governor Malloy's interest in this program and in investing directly in our local communities."

~Andrew J. Tierney, Town Manager

The Main Street Revitalization Plan was and continues to be a tremendous success for the Town of Hebron. The Plan consisted of a comprehensive series of programs all focused on restoring the town’s commercial core street – Main Street. Landscaping was done and trees were planted along brand new sidewalks, the first sidewalks one side of Main Street had ever seen. A “Welcome to Hebron” sign was installed to bring about a sense of place for visitors and residents alike. Most significantly, a new Façade Improvement Program was established to match grant funds to investments by local businesses to improve aesthetics and function of older commercial buildings. Enhancements in the appearance of these structures, in addition to improved handicap accessibility, have already increased business by 30% for places like Gina Marie’s Restaurant.
