Monday: Gov. Malloy Holds News Conference on Voter Rights Legislation, Speaks at Martin Luther King, Jr. Event
On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will host a news conference to announce legislation he intends to introduce this session that will preserve voting rights, including expanding voter access to registration and polls. He will be joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, Chairman of the Board of Common Cause Dr. Bilal Sekou and a group of state lawmakers and advocates.

On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker and officials from the Town of Westbrook at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Westbrook Shore Line East Railroad Station.

Gov. Malloy: Updating "Blue Laws" Will Make Connecticut More Competitive and Benefit Consumers
In order to help Connecticut stay competitive with neighboring states and give consumers a break, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he intends to introduce legislation in the upcoming session to update state laws – some of which date back to Prohibition – regulating the sale of alcohol. The package's most recognizable proposal would allow the sale of alcohol on Sundays, certain holidays, and on Mondays that come after Sunday holidays. Other provisions, which Governor Malloy said are "consumer-friendly," would eliminate minimum pricing to lower costs for consumers.

Gov. Malloy Forms Taskforce to Review and Assess Effectiveness of State's Business Tax Credits
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed Executive Order 17 which will create a nine member Governor’s Business Tax Policy Review Taskforce. The taskforce’s mission will be to review the state’s business tax policies to ensure that Connecticut is getting the maximum return on its investments, with an eye toward policies that will make the state even more competitive for future job growth.

Thursday: Gov. Malloy Meets with Young Lawyers of the CT Bar Association
On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will be the featured guest at an event hosted by the Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association for a conversation on the Governor’s first year in office and his experiences being a lawyer in public life. Gov. Malloy Welcomes Two Storm Panel Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that recommendations included in the final report of the working group he created to review the preparedness, response and recovery efforts of Tropical Storm Irene and the October Nor’easter will help the administration shape the package of initiatives and legislation it plans to announce in the coming days. The legislation will be introduced during the upcoming legislative session, which begins in February.
