Epidemiology and Emerging Infections Program
Reportable Infectious Diseases Reference Manual

EEIP Reportable Disease Follow-up Guidance
for State and Local Health Department Employees

The Connecticut Epidemiology and Emerging Infections Program (EEIP) Reportable Diseases Reference Manual (the manual) describes infectious disease investigation and follow-up recommendations of the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) EEIP, and outlines the responsibilities of the DPH and local health departments (LHD). Primary users include Connecticut local health directors, public health nurses, sanitarians, other LHD personnel, and DPH employees.

The focus of the manual is on routine follow-up of reportable infectious diseases that are not covered by the STD/HIV/Hepatitis Programs, Immunizations Program or the Tuberculosis Program, which have their own disease-specific recommendations. It also does not specifically address possible agents of bioterrorism, except by providing information on the Connecticut Public Health Emergency Response Plan, and bioterrorism resources available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.
