EEIP RIDRM Resources for Follow-up
All users of the Epidemiology and Emerging Infections Program, Reportable Infectious Diseases Reference Manual (the manual) will need to acquire copies of the resources below. These resources are references that are used to begin disease investigations. Digital versions are also available:
- Control of Communicable Diseases Manual, 20th Edition (American Public Health Association, David L. Heymann, MD, Editor), or most recent edition;
- Red Book: 2018 Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases, 31st Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics, David W. Kimerlin, MD, FAAP, Editor), or most recent edition.
Much of the disease-specific information in the manual is derived from these two resources, and from materials available on the CDC website including the Nationally Notifiable Infectious Diseases case definitions. The manual is intended to provide supplemental information that will help public health practitioners in Connecticut implement disease prevention and control measures for reportable infectious diseases.
The lists of Reportable Diseases, Emergency Illnesses, Health Conditions, and Laboratory Findings are reviewed annually and may change from the previous year. To assure you have the most up-to-date information concerning reportable diseases, please visit the Reporting of Diseases, Emergency Illnesses, Health Conditions, and Laboratory Findings page.
The most current reportable disease forms are found on the DPH Forms page.
