Fees for Returned Checks or Rejected/Dishonored Credit and Debit Cards

Under Connecticut General Statute 14-50(f), if any check, credit, or debit card is uncollectible, rejected, or dishonored the applicant will be charged additional fees as follows:

• If amount paid was less than or equal to $200.00 – Fee is $35.00
• If amount paid was greater than $200 – Fee is 15% of the amount.
• All protest fees or charges will also be charged to cover the cost of collection.

These fees are in addition to the original transaction fee. If fees are not paid when due the credential that was paid for will be revoked and future DMV transactions may be denied.
