UPDATE:
State Police Investigates Untimely Death

Today 04/28/11 the Rocky Hill Police Department was not able to contact an officer on patrol via radio.  Officers searched, and at approximately 4:45 a.m., did locate the officer deceased at Center Cemetery in Rocky Hill.

The scene was secured and the Chief of Rocky Hill Police requested the State Police Major Crime squad respond to conduct the investigation into this death.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. State Police Central District Major Crime arrived to the Center Cemetery in Rocky Hill to initiate the investigation into the untimely death.

The Central District Major Crime Squad detectives’ initial examination of the scene determined that there appeared to be no criminal aspect to this death.   

The entire scene was documented by State Police Major Crime Detectives. The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner will conduct a post mortem examination on Friday 04/29/11 to determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The deceased has been identified as Rocky Hill Police SGT. LEONARD KULAS  DOB: 12/22/61 a resident of Cromwell.  Sgt Kulas is a 31 year veteran of Rocky hill Police Department. 

The investigation is continuing.
