UPDATE: State Police Investigate Suspicious Death

On Tuesday March 22, 2011 at approximately 7:45 a.m. North Haven Police received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male seated in a car that may need medical attention.  The male was reported injured inside a vehicle that was parked at the Wharton Brook State Park in North Haven.  North Haven Police and EMS personnel responded to the scene where they located the male inside the vehicle.  EMS pronounced the male, a 41 year old Connecticut resident, deceased.

North Haven Police secured the scene and contacted State Police to respond to conduct the investigation into this death in a state park.

Troopers from Troop I, and State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the scene to conduct this investigation.

The deceased has been tentatively identified but his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin notification.

The Office of the Chief States Medical Examiner will conduct a post mortem examination of the deceased to determine the manner and cause of death.

UPDATE:

The On 3/23/11 an autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner. The post mortem examination of the deceased determined the cause of death to be self-inflicted strangulation.   The deceased is identified as Anthony P. Piccirillo DOB 12/30/70 of North Haven, Ct.

No criminal aspect was determined in this investigation.
