UPDATE: State Police Investigate New Britain Homicide

On Friday October 14, 2011 at approximately 6:20am New Britain Police received an assault complaint at 127 Booth St. in New Britain. 

Officers responded to the scene and located a male victim who was pronounced deceased.  One male suspect was also located at the scene. Officers secured the scene and initiated an investigation.

At the request of the New Britain State's Attorney office, the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad is investigating this homicide.  The victim is a relative of a member of the New Britain Police Department.  No member of the New Britain Police Department was involved in this incident. 

This investigation is continuing by detectives from the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad.

UPDATE: On Friday October 14, 2011, State Police Central District Major Crime Squad arrested the accused.

ACCUSED:    Gawlik, Jan     dob: 01/18/65

                        127 Booth Rd.

                        New Britain, CT

CHARGES:    Murder, 53a-54a

                        Assault of an Elderly Person, Third Degree, 53a-61a

BOND:           $1,000,000.00

COURT:         October 17, 2011

                        New Britain Superior Court.
