State Police Makes Narcotic Arrest

On June 10, 2011, The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Unit South Central Field Office and the North Haven Police Department met to execute a controlled delivery. The North Haven Police Department K-9 unit was conducting routine checks of suspicious packages at a Distribution Facility in North Haven. The North Haven Police Department K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in two packages addressed to 110 Dexter Avenue in Meriden. A Search Warrant was obtained and over 22 pounds of marijuana was located in the packages. Detectives executed a controlled delivery of the packages at that residence. At the residence two individuals were arrested after receiving the packages of marijuana. Both the accused residences were searched and additional evidence was seized. As a result of this investigation the following was seized: approximately 22.84 pounds of marijuana, a Ruger 357 caliber handgun, and $50,300 cash.

Both accused were processed and released on bond and will appear in Superior Court in Meriden to answer these charges.

The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Unit South Central Field Office is comprised of State Police Detectives as well as Officers from New Haven, Orange, Woodbridge, and Cheshire Police Departments.

#1 Nelson C Johnson (DOB 06/08/1966) of 110 Dexter Avenue Meriden.

#2  Matthew Vaught (DOB 2/2/1978) of 53 Sexton Street New Britain.

CHARGES: Both individuals were charged with the following in violation of Conn. Gen. Stat.:

                 

                  Possession Of Marijuana >4 oz, 21a-279(b)

                  Possession With Intent To Sell Marijuana, 21a-267(b)

                  Conspiracy To Possess Marijuana, 53a-48/21a-279(b),

                  Conspiracy To Possess With Intent to Sell Marijuana, 53a-48/21a-267(b)

                  Risk Of Injury To A Minor, 53-21.
