State Police Make Sexual Assault Arrest

On December 10, 2010 Connecticut State Police Major Crime Detectives began a criminal investigation into the allegations of Sexual Assault against two minors.  The incident reportedly had taken place in Mansfield, Ct. between 2007 and 2008.  State Police Detectives uncovered facts and circumstances during the investigation that led to the submission of an arrest warrant application to Superior Court for the arrest of the accused

Rockville Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for the arrest of accused.  On May 3, 2011 State Police Detectives took the accused into custody at his residence without incident.

ARRESTED:   William G. Murphy DOB: 11/19/65

                       145 Brookside Lane

                        Mansfield, CT

CHARGES:     Sexual Assault Fourth Degree (2 counts)

                       Unlawful Restraint Second Degree (1 count)

                       Risk of Injury to a Minor (3 counts).

Accused Murphy was processed at State Police Troop C and held on $150,000.00 bond pending arraignment in Rockville Superior Court on May 4, 2011.

State Police Detectives are continuing this investigation.  Troopers are asking anyone who may have any information regarding this investigation to call State Police at 860-896-3200.  All calls will be kept confidential.
