                     STATE POLICE MAKE MANSLAUGHTER ARREST

On Thursday, March 10, 2011, Correctional Officers at the Cybulski Correctional Center responded to the room of Jason Scribner (DOB: 02/23/80) who, according to inmates, had suffered a medical seizure. The victim was found unconscious and was immediately transported to the prison medical unit.  Soon thereafter he was transferred to the John Dempsey Medical Center at the UCONN Health Center.

On March 14, 2011, the inmate Scribner died at the UConn Health Center.  A post-mortem examination was conducted on the victim at the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner.   A Deputy Medical Examiner determined that the victim had multiple skull fractures and fractured ribs and deemed the injuries suspicious.  The State Police were requested to conduct a criminal investigation into the incident.

State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives investigated the entire event, interviewing witnesses and examining evidence. Detectives determined that the victim's injuries were the result on a physical assault.  An arrest warrant application was submitted to Tolland Superior Court for the arrest of the accused in this case. The warrant for the accused was issued by the court.

Today, March 30, State Police arrested the accused in this case. He was processed at Tolland Superior Court held on bond and arraigned.
