  STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN ANDOVER ARMED ROBBERY

   On Friday March 4, 2011, at approximately 1:30 a.m., State Police at Troop K in Colchester received a report of an armed robbery that had taken place at the 7-Eleven Store located in Andover.

    Witnesses stated a black male with facial hair and wearing a white hoodie, and a black jacket had just walked into the 7-Eleven and asked for a cigar.  As the clerk opened the register, the suspect displayed handgun and demanded the money.

      The suspect took the money then left the 7-Eleven through the front door and ran off westbound on Route 6 towards Hartford. Witnesses provided details of the suspect vehicle that fled the scene. The suspect was described as a black male approximately 5'8"- 6'2" tall with a black leather jacket and armed with a handgun.  The suspect vehicle was described as a dark black sedan heading down Route 6 towards the Bolton Notch.

     All area police departments were advised of the suspect and vehicle description.

     At approximately 1:45 a.m. State Troopers from Troop H spotted and stopped the suspect vehicle.  Three suspects occupied the vehicle.  The armed robber was positively identified and all three suspects were taken into custody by State Police. Troopers recovered cash and a black facsimile handgun in the vehicle.

     The three suspects were placed under arrest and transported to Troop K in Colchester where they were processed and held on bond.  All three accused will be transported to Superior Court GA #19 in Rockville today 03/04/11 to be arraigned on these charges.

CHARGES:  Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st degree and Criminal Liability for the Act of Another.

Derek McKinnis (DOB: 05/07/88) of Hartford

CHARGES:  Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st degree and Criminal Liability for the Act of Another.
