                        STATE POLICE ARREST MAN IN ARSON CASE


          On December 18, 2011, the State Police Fire Marshal responded to a garage fire on Ellington Avenue in Ellington and determined the cause of the fire to be arson.  An investigation was initiated by the Ellington Resident Trooper’s Office, State Police Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad and State Police Marshal’s Fire Marshal’s Office. 

          State Troopers charged Kenneth Stavnitski (DOB 3-15-1972) with First Degree Arson, First Degree Reckless Endangerment, two counts of Rick of Injury and Breach of Peace. 

Stavnitski turned himself into Troop C in Tolland on December 20.  He was held on a court-set bond of $50,000 cash/surety bond. He was presented at GA #19 during the morning of December 21.
