State Police Investigate Mansfield Armed Robbery

On 01/11/11 at 11:19 p.m., State Police Troop C received an armed robbery alarm and a 9-1-1 call to report an armed robbery at the Gibbs gas station, located at Rt. 32 Mansfield near the Willimantic line.

State Troopers from the Mansfield Resident Trooper’s office and Troop C responded to the scene.

The store attendant who was working at the counter stated that a W/M Hispanic approximately early to mid 20’s entered the store wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans, white sneakers, and wearing a scarf to cover his face. The subject displayed a black and chrome handgun and approached the clerk and demanded cash. The suspect also demanded a customer’s money. The customer turned over four gold rings. The subject fled on foot towards Rt. 32 in a southerly direction towards Willimantic with an unknown amount of cash. There were no injuries.

The area was searched using Troopers and State Police K-9 teams.  All area police departments were advised of this incident. State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to conduct this criminal investigation.

Troopers located and seized physical and forensic evidence from the scene.

The attached photo was seized from the surveillance video at the scene.  State Police are asking anyone who may recognize this subject or may have any information regarding this robbery to please call State Police at 860 896-3200.
