State Police Investigate Attempted Armed Robbery

On 02/22/11 at approximately 8:20 p.m., Connecticut State Troopers from Troop F responded to the Chestnut Mart on Halls Road in Old Lyme for a reported attempted armed robbery.

Troopers responded to and secured the scene.  Troopers interviewed the victim who reported that the suspect entered the Chestnut Mart through the front door, approached the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

A search of the area was conducted by troopers and State Police K-9 teams.  All area police departments were notified and provided details of the incident and suspect description. 

State Police Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and to gather and document physical evidence at the scene.  State Police Detectives obtained information regarding this criminal investigation.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black ski mask and a black “hoodie”.  The suspect fled from the area in an unknown vehicle and unknown direction of travel. There were no reported injuries.
