State Police Continue Police Shooting Investigation

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad was requested to conduct the investigation, into a New London Police shooting, by the Police Chief and the New London State’s Attorney.  State Police Detectives are continuing the investigation into the shooting of an armed civilian by New London Police Officers.

On 05/28/11 New London Police Officers responded to a call for an armed man on Ocean Ave in New London, CT.  Upon arrival the officers confronted the suspect who displayed a hand gun and refused command by the officers to disarm.  The suspect pointed the weapon in the direction of the officers causing three officers to fire their assigned weapons at the suspect.

The suspect was wounded by the three officers and is reported to be in stable condition. The officers were not injured during this incident.

The three New London Police Officers are temporarily assigned to administrative duty as a result of this incident.  They are identified as: 

Officer John Michaud a 5 year veteran of the department, 

Officer Timothy Henderson a 3 year veteran of the department and

Officer Justin Clachrie a 3 year veteran of the department.

The case remains under investigation.
