State Police Computer Crime Unit Make Arrest

On May 12, 2011, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit executed a search and seizure

warrant at 220 Main St. Apt 2F New Hartford, CT.  This warrant originated from an investigation

regarding the transmission of suspected child pornography via the Internet and online accounts used by the

suspect.  Electronic items that were seized from the suspect’s residence were examined and it was

determined that there were multiple images of child pornography present.  An arrest warrant was requested

from Superior Court for the arrest of the accused.  The warrant was issued by the court for the arrest.

Arrested:         Joseph L. Imperiale DOB:  1/7/85

                        Promoting a Minor in Obscene Performance

                        Obscenity

On May 18, 2011 the Imperiale turned himself in to State Police at Troop L in Litchfield and was detained

on a $25,000 cash/surety bond and appeared at GA 18 Litchfield on May 19, 2011 to answer the charges.

A criminal investigation was initiated by Detectives of the CCEEL in December of 2009 after images of suspected child pornography were discovered as being shared over the Internet connection assigned to a residence located in West Haven, CT.

State Police Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the West Haven home on 07/15/10, obtained information that the suspect was a family friend identified as Steven Bailey.  Investigators responded to Bailey's residence that same day and seized a laptop computer.

A forensic examination of Bailey's laptop computer was conducted and images and videos of suspected child pornography were located.

                    Promoting a Minor in Obscene Performance, 53a-196b

On May 19, 2011, accused Steven Bailey turned himself in to State Police at Troop I in Bethany on an outstanding arrest warrant held by the CT State Police Computer Crime Electronic Evidence Laboratory (CCEEL).

Accused Bailey was released after posting a $10,000 court set bond and was given a court date of 05/31/11 at Superior Court GA 22 in Milford.
