State Police Arrest Two Suspects During Home Invasion

On 02/17/11, at about 10:44 p.m., Troopers from Troop F, Troop I, and Central District Major Crime responded to 361 Jackson Hill Road in Middlefield for a reported robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, Troopers determined that the residents of this address were in the process of being robbed by two males. Troopers secured the perimeter around the residence; the two suspects responsible for the robbery exited the residence and were immediately taken into custody without incident.  One victim was transported to Middlesex Hospital where he was treated and released for injuries sustained during the course of this robbery.

The following two individuals were arrested:

ARRESTED:            #1 Shane Leverette (02/17/69) of 156 Grove Street in Meriden, CT

                             #2 Randy Cochran (09/08/79) of 6 Lynn Avenue in Plantsville, CT

The above two individuals were charged with:

CHARGES:              Home Invasion, Robbery in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree,

                        Larceny in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Assault Weapon, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Use of a Firearm during a Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Discharge, and Conspiracy.

Both individuals are being held at State Police Troop F in Westbrook on $500,000 bonds and will be arraigned at Middletown Superior court on 02/17/11.

The investigation also revealed that this was not a random act and that the arrestees had met the victim previously through mutual friends.

This criminal investigation is continuing.
