STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN JEWELRY THEFT CASE

On December 14, 2009, Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad began a criminal investigation into the theft of jewelry from homes in the Killingly and Putnam areas. A suspect, a service technician from a local propane company, was developed by Detectives. Detectives applied to Superior Court for an arrest warrant for the suspect in this case.

On January 15, 2010, the Danielson Superior Court issued a warrant for Trevis S. Benoit, DOB: 07/15/1977, of 23 Fairview Street, Danielson, charging him with Larceny 3rd Degree for the theft of jewelry from a home in Putnam on December 11, 2009, where he was left alone by the customer to service their gas appliances.

On January 20, 2010 at 8:50 a.m., State Police Detectives arrested Benoit at Troop D on the outstanding warrant.  He was processed and released on a $10,000 non-surety bond pending arraignment in Danielson Superior Court on January 27, 2010.
