STATE TROOPERS INVESTIGATE POLICE SHOOTING IN EAST HARTFORD

On 2-10-10 at approximately 2:36 am, a motor vehicle pursuit began in the city of Hartford and continued into the city of East Hartford.  East Hartford Police Officers joined Hartford Police in the pursuit as they entered into their town.  Officers subsequently attempted to stop the suspect vehicle at the Goodwin College Campus, on Riverside Drive, in East Hartford.  As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect vehicle turned towards officers and accelerated. The officers fired shots at the suspect and he was then taken into custody and transported to Hartford Hospital.  The suspect is being treated for non-fatal gunshot wounds and is currently in stable condition.

At the request of the Hartford States Attorney’s office and the Chief of East Hartford Police Department, the Connecticut State Police is conducting an investigation into this shooting.  Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime are also assisting East Hartford Police with evidence collection and scene processing.
