State Police Seek Public’s Help In Robbery Investigation

On 10/16/10, at approximately 1:20 a.m., State Troopers from Troop E in Montville received a complaint of an attempted robbery at the Mobil Station located at 262 Flanders Road, East Lyme.  State Troopers and East Lyme officers responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, Troopers determined the incident occurred inside the Mobil Station on 10/16/10 at approximately 1:06 a.m., when a white male entered the station, approached the clerk and demanded $300 so he could get his daughter out of jail.  The suspect implied that he had a gun. The clerk refused to comply and the suspect then fled the area on foot.

A criminal investigation was initiated and State Troopers obtained security surveillance video footage of the suspect in this case. State Police Investigators interviewed witnesses who were able to provide specific details regarding this attempted robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30-40's, approximately 6 feet tall, thin build, mustache and unshaven, wearing blue jeans, dark colored sweat shirt, dark colored knit winter cap, dark sunglasses, white sneakers with blue soles and blue logo design.

The State Police investigation into this attempted robbery is continuing.  Troopers have developed some details and leads in this case.  Troopers are asking anyone who may have seen the suspect in the area of the Mobil Station, anyone who may recognize the suspect, or anyone who has information regarding this investigation to contact State Police at 860-848-6534 or the Crime Tips Hotline at 860-848-5044.  All information will be kept on strictest confidence.
