STATE POLICE MAKE JUVENILE REFERRAL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE

On 01/05/10 State Police at Troop I in Bethany received a complaint of a possible sexual assault that took place on January 4 inside Platt Regional Technical School, 600 Orange Avenue, in Milford.

Upon arrival, Troopers met with school officials and two students involved in the complaint.  The accused and complainant were both in the company of their parents.

All parties involved were interviewed and Troopers investigating this complaint determined that both students were involved in “making out” when one party attempted to escalate the situation against the second person’s will. A teacher came upon the incident and nothing further took place.

On January 5 the event was reported to State Police. As a result of the investigation a 16-year-old was referred to juvenile court in Bridgeport to answer the charge of Sexual Assault 3rd.  The accused was released into the custody of a parent.

No additional referrals anticipated in this incident.
