STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE EXPLOSIVES AT HOME IN MANSFIELD

On 1-25-10 at approximately 5:13 pm, the Connecticut State Police at Troop C received a complaint from the parents of a juvenile at 285 Hanks Hill Road, in the town of Mansfield.  The father of the juvenile complained to Troopers that he was concerned that the juvenile was mixing household chemicals and creating explosive materials.

Troopers responded to the residence, which is a single family home in a residential area, and a discovered various suspicious chemical mixtures inside the home.  The Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit was requested and responded to the residence and it was determined that the mixtures consisted of possibly volatile explosives.

They were placed at the Mansfield Community Center, until the chemicals are removed from the property and disposed of safely.

This case is active and under investigation. The Connecticut State Police Troop-C, State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad,  The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad, are on scene, to investigate this incident and  both identify and safely remove these materials.  The family and juvenile are currently cooperating with police with the investigation.
