State Troopers Investigate Somers Bank Robbery

On 08/18/10 at approximately 11:40 a.m., State Troopers from Troop C- Tolland and the Somers Resident State Trooper’s Office responded to the Rockville Bank located at 612 Main St., Somers for a reported bank robbery.  Responding troopers determined that a lone male entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded cash, a weapon was implied but not seen.  The teller complied and the suspect fled the bank in a green Mercury Mountaineer vehicle.  The area was searched with negative results. All surrounding police departments, including Massachusetts, were notified.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9”, with a thin build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap, and sunglasses.  The suspect was last seen heading eastbound on Rte. 190 towards Stafford on Rte. 190.

Responding troopers processed the crime scene and recovered evidence at the scene.  Troopers were able to obtain photos from security surveillance footage of the suspect as he stood at the bank teller window.

The investigation into this bank robbery is continuing. Troopers have developed some details and leads in this case.  Troopers are asking anyone who may have seen the suspect or vehicle in the area of Rockville Bank or anyone who has information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland at (860)896-3200 or Text a tip.
