               STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY OF THEATER

   On 09/13/10, at 1:08 a.m., the State Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that had taken place at the Marquis Theater located at 314 Flat Rock Rd, Westbrook.

   Upon arrival, troopers encountered the victim, who is the night manager. The victim reported that while he was closing up the theater and exiting the building, two masked males approached him displayed a handgun and demanded money.  The victim stated that he provided the days receipts to the robbers who then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

   Troopers conducted a search of the area for the suspect and also broadcast the facts of this incident to area police agencies.

   There were no injuries.  State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives were assigned to respond to this scene to conduct the investigation into this incident.  Detectives processed the scene and gathered forensic and physical evidence.  Detectives interviewed potential witnesses and are following leads in this case.

   Troopers are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the theater in the early morning hours and may have seen anything or anyone suspicious to please call State Police at (860)399-2100.  All calls will be kept confidential.
